A year ago, Gimnasio La Montaña took a bold step: becoming a Phone-Free School, along with other Uncoli schools, a decision welcomed by parents and teachers. Today, the results of the first national study on cell phone restrictions in schools—led by Stanford University, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank, and published by El Tiempo—confirm that it was the right decision.

In recent times, we have witnessed the detrimental effects that the excessive use of personal electronic devices has had on the emotional, physical, and mental health of children and young people. This concern is not unique to our institution; it is an issue that resonates internationally and requires concrete action to address it.
